Can a younger child act as a Karta in a HUF?

Yes, a younger child can act as the Karta of a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) if the eldest son or daughter declines or is unable to take on the role. In such cases, the younger coparcener can assume the responsibilities of the Karta by obtaining consent from other adult coparceners. This requires submitting a signed and notarized legal agreement or declaration, confirming that the appointment is with mutual consent. The new Karta will then manage the HUF’s affairs, property, and legal matters on behalf of all family members.
