What is an AMO order? How and when can we place an AMO?
AMO stands for after-market order. Traditionally, the markets are open from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM IST during normal business days, during which you can place your orders. But what if you want to place an order after the market hours and ensure it is active when the next trading session opens? That's where an AMO is useful.
AMO allows you to place your buy or sell order outside of market hours. If you are busy during market hours - or would like some trades to be executed as soon as the market opens, you can place an After Market Order (AMO). AMO ensures your order will be be placed on the exchange when the market opens for the next trading sessions, and get executed when the price match as per your instruction happens.
AMO orders can only be placed during the following timings:
Segment | Timing |
Equity (NSE &BSE EQ) | 4.05 pm to 12:00 am and 5:00 am to 8:58 am |
Future & Option | 3.31 pm to 12:00 am and 5:00 am to 9:13 am |
