Can a minor be a joint holder in another demat account?
No, a minor cannot be a joint holder in another demat account. As per depository regulations, minors are not permitted to be part of any joint demat account due to legal and contractual limitations. A demat account in a minor’s name must be held individually and operated by a natural or court-appointed guardian. This is to protect the financial interests of the minor and ensure that transactions are managed solely by the guardian until the minor attains majority and assumes full control.
