What documents are required to open a minor trading & demat account?


To open a minor’s trading and demat account, documents are required for both the minor and the guardian. The guardian operates the account on behalf of the minor until the minor attains majority.  

Documents to be submitted for the minor:

Requirements 

Customer Account opening form - (Click here to get AOF) 

Duly filled customer account opening form (Click here to get prefilled Sample) 

Minor’s PAN Card 

Copy of the minor’s PAN card attested by the guardian 

Minor’s Date of Birth (DOB) Proof (any one) 

  • Birth Certificate 

  • School Leaving Certificate 

  • Passport 

  • Marksheet issued by Higher Secondary Board 

Minor’s Address Proof 

Aadhaar card or passport of the minor 

Minor’s Passport-size Photograph 

Recent passport-size photograph of the minor 

Minor’s Bank Account Proof (any one) 

  • Cancelled cheque 

  • Recent bank statement 

  • Passbook copy 

Legal Guardian Letter 

Required only if the guardian is not the parent (e.g., grandparent or court-appointed guardian)

Guardian KYC Form (PDF)  

Duly filled KYC form ( Sample PDF) 

PAN Card 

Self-attested copy of guardian’s PAN 

Passport-size Photograph 

Recent passport-size photograph of the guardian 

Address Proof (any one) 

  • Passport 

  • Aadhaar 

  • Voter ID 

  • Driving Licence 

 

All documents must be valid, clearly visible, and properly self-attested. The guardian is fully responsible for account operations until the minor reaches the age of 18.
