Can buying and selling of securities be done in a minor's trading account?
A minor cannot legally enter into a contract with a stockbroker to buy or sell securities, so active trading is not permitted in a minor’s trading account. However, a trading account can be opened in the minor’s name solely for the purpose of selling securities that the minor has acquired through means such as IPOs, inheritance, corporate actions, or permitted off-market transfers. The account is operated by the guardian, and no fresh purchases or speculative trading can be done through it.
